Grünbelagentferner Guide

Anyone who looks forward to his beautiful terrace in the summer will often experience a nasty surprise in the absence of care for the floor covering: Grünbelag!

What is green cover?

Algae, mosses and lichens leave a greenish or blackish surface on the patio floor. These discolorations also do not stop at wooden and plastic floors. Especially on wood can form a rather slippery film in humid weather. Greening does not only occur on soils. Even roofs, wooden porches, garden furniture, Facades or sculptures are haunted by the green cover. And this coating is not only unpleasant, but in some cases can even cause damage to the material.

Where does annoying green cover come from?

Especially on the weather side, in the shade and in damp places sooner or later green discoloration will form. Spores are deposited and due to the constant humidity and low UV radiation, algae and lichens thrive excellently. In the vicinity of agricultural land, a nutrient-rich air (fertilizer) can also promote the green cover. Sunlight, good ventilation and care, however, keep the infestation within limits.

Green cover is unfortunately not only a visual defect, but can even attack the material. Infested wood weathers faster and changes. Rock can become porous. This is very damaging, especially for outdoor tiles. Algae, fungi and bacteria create micro-cracks where moisture can penetrate. In winter this can lead to frost damage. In the tile example, this means that joints are leaking and the tiles can jump. As already mentioned, the risk of slipping is not to be despised on such coagulated surfaces.

Safely remove green coating

In autumn, winter and spring, a green cover is formed quickly. Anyone who discovers it should remove the coating in spring with the right remedy. When it comes to permanently wet spots, you will not be able to do a cleanup several times a year. In order for the work to be worthwhile and the success to be visible, the suitable one should be Green Growth to get voted.

The tool of choice

In the trade are high quality Green Growth available. These are composed to safely remove black algae, lichens, moss and fungi. Usually this is enough pressure sprayerto apply and a short exposure time. Superficial green coverings disappear after a short time. Agents with a long-term effect work for up to 6 months automatically. Those who want to tackle a stronger pollution, the Green Growth with a high pressure cleanerApply and use a longer exposure time. Microbes are decomposed after a few days and the surface becomes lighter again. However, it is worth choosing a product that is environmentally friendly. So surrounding plants are not damaged and the rinse water does not harm animals.

How is a good one Green Growth to recognize?

The solutions should generally be acid-free, so they are generally suitable for all waterproof substrates. The application can then take place, for example, on natural stone, hardwood, clinker and WPC as well as many other materials. For sensitive surfaces, it is best to treat a test area. Quality Green Growth do not harm plants; they may turn brown when wet, but not die off. Also Grünbelagentferner with chlorine or iron compounds should not be used.

Many of these good green stain removers are available from specialist retailers. Often they differ in the price and scope of the solution. Well-known manufacturers such as Mellerud Grünbelag Remover or AKB Algae and Greenhouse Remover 20-fold High Concentrate are definitely suitable for safely removing green coverings. All concentrates are diluted according to instructions with water and with a Pressure sprayer– for example one garden-syringe– evenly applied. Treated in such a way, the surfaces soon radiate back to their former glory.
