At a gas cartridge it is a disposable container in which LPG is located. The gas cartridges are needed to gas grills, gas lamps, gas cookerto operate at the campsite or blowtorch. There are correspondingly different types. The cartridges for the campsite are designed so that they also have a stand. This is for safety. The large-volume cartridges are usually refillable, which are then also referred to not as cartridges, but as Gasflachen. The gas bottles can be removed at any time from the device they are to operate. The gas cartridges should remain on the unit until completely drained. Cartridges for the campsite A system from Asia has been adopted for the newer cartridges used for campsite use. These cartridges are recognizable by having a notch next to the valve. Of course, these cartridges also have a connection for devices. This connection is called MSF1a.

Other cartridge types and mixtures

In addition to the MSF1a cartridges, there are 3 more cartridge types. And the 190 grams lancing cartridge. This is the most widespread. These gas cartridges are standardized to EN417: 2012 and have an internal, self-sealing mechanism. This gas-lock system serves to prevent gas leakage. Then there’s the classic screw-in cartridge with the 7/16 „28 UNEF thread. Also widely used is the valve cartridges with bayonet (also called bayonet cartridge often or Campingaz Easy-Click cartridge or DIy cartridge). In addition to the gas cartridges with pure isobutane, butane or propane, there are still gas cartridges filled with mixtures of these gases. The sting cartridges usually have a butane content of 50, 65, 70, 80 or 95 percent and admixtures of an appropriate amount of propane. There are also mixtures in which a proportion of isobutane is added. The bayonet valve cartridges behave similarly. For the campsite there are even pure butane or isobutane gas cartridges.

Save on gas cartridges purchase

Depending on the provider, there may already be some hefty price differences in the gas cartridges. One should know that even the expensive products are all made in Asia. The big problem is the different closures of the gas cartridges dar. It is not just about the habit, but also about the potential savings. Because cheaper products of this kind are often brought by a provider on the market, but its connection does not fit on the device. Since 2005, there are also adapters with which the gas cartridges of other types can be used on the campsite. This can save a lot of money. After all, you only buy the adapter once. A refilling of the gas cartridges is out of the question for security reasons. However, the resulting problem: where to go with the cartridges, if they are empty, was also solved in Germany. These can be returned to the provider. He is even obliged to take back the empty cartridges. In the household waste you must not give the empty gas cartridges! A problem that also prevails in Germany, however, is the fight of manufacturers against plagiarism. For the consumer, the one gas cartridge As cheap as possible for the campsite and accordingly inexperienced, it is difficult to keep original and plagiarism apart. Often there are not even quality issues. The difficulties only arise when looking for a spare part, for example a valve. Because a spare-part service or warranty or guarantee does not exist in the plagiarism. The „counterfeiters“ also have their production sites in Asia. Therefore, it may be that even experienced companies in this country with a fairly good image and good buyers fell for the plagiarism. Therefore, caution when comparing prices for gas cylinders: Not only quality has its price. Of course, you also pay for a possibly functioning spare parts service or for the guarantee or warranty.
