With the smartphones of the Galaxy series, the Korean multi-group Samsung is constantly setting new standards in the technical equipment and design of mobile phones. It is no different with the Galaxy S7 Smartphones. Even with these smartphones, Samsung has proven that its devices are rightly the best-selling smartphones worldwide. In addition, a few customer-criticized changes to the S6 models were taken back with the S7.

S7 housing and display – more than just externalities

The Galaxy S7 is, according to the plastic housing of the predecessor, equipped with an aluminum housing. As a result, the S7 not only gains in stability, it also feels more valuable than the predecessor models. The case of the Samsung Galaxy S7 is dustproof and waterproof. It can therefore fall into the water once, without the device causing any damage. However, the waterproofness is limited. In a dive, the S7 should not be taken.

The Super AMOLED display of the S7 measures 5.1 inches or 12.9 centimeters in the diagonal. AMOLED stands for „Active Matrix Organic Light Emitting Diode“ and means that every single pixel of the large display is controlled by a so-called active matrix and has its own power connection, which makes it glow when needed. This eliminates the need for the usual backlighting. The display of the S7 is also an „Always-On-Display“, on which important information is always displayed.

For high-resolution and sharp images, the S7 user has a 12-dual-pixel camera available. The light intensity of the aperture indicates the manufacturer with f / 1.7. This allows noise-free pictures with the S7 even in low light conditions. The size of the pixels is now 1.4 microns. They are a whopping 56 percent larger than the S6’s camera and deliver 1/4 more light to the sensor. The front camera with 5 megapixel camera is no better or worse than the front camera other smartphones and ideal for selfies. The camera has Samsung donated a new Motio Panorama called function, which can display moving images from left to right.

The S7 has an Exynos 8890 with 8 processor cores. According to Samsung, the new processor is around 30 percent faster than its predecessor, the Exynos 7420, in the S6, yet it is expected to consume up to 10 percent less energy. Of course, the S7 from Samsung also has an LTE chip, the downloads with up to 600 Mbit / s and in the upstream transmission rates of up to 150 Mbit / s m LTE 4G network allows.

S7 battery, operating system and storage space

The battery of the S7 has a capacity of 3,000 mAh. The battery can be quickly recharged if required and, in contrast to the battery of the S6, can be easily replaced in the event of a defect. Also in the memory Samsung has returned to expandable storage as the S5. The built-in memory in the S7 has a size of 32 GB, but can be expanded with a micro-SD memory card up to 200 GB if required

In the background the Galaxy S7 works with the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow operating system and Samsung’s own TouchWiz interface. The Marshmallow operating system has some new features, such as the ability to disable the notification feature, which helps to reduce power consumption and extend battery life.
