DJ CD player guide

The development

In the DJ scene so far vinyl records were the current recordings. In recent years, however, spread more and more the compact disc. The reason for this is that only in the past five years Dj-CD players were brought to the market, which also meet this label. Another reason lies in the lack of feel, because the vinyl sound carrier could be controlled by hand. Turning, pitching, and scratching are among the maneuvers that every DJ uses. Earlier Dj-CD players were only able to change the speed of the tracks. Vinyls were also better suited for scratching, because the scratching is based on the mechanical movement of the vinyls. The pitching and scratching of a CD is not mechanically possible. For this purpose mathematical algorithms had to be developed first. The laser of a Dj-CD player has no physical contact with the CD. The reading out of the information happens noiselessly. The sound generation must therefore be generated with the help of a mathematical calculation. In recent years, many Dj-CD players have appeared on the market, which offer all the important features and functions.

The basic functions

Cue

Among the basic functions of a Dj-CD player is the capture of a cue point. For this, the players have a cue function. A track can thus be started at any point. There are also devices that allow you to set and save multiple starting points. These cue points are then automatically loaded as soon as the CD is inserted. In addition, some Dj-CD players have an auto-cue function. This ensures that the breaks are skipped at the beginning of a track.

The anti-shock buffer

Especially when a Dj-CD player is used in a club, or the disco, an anti-shock buffer is essential. This should be big enough. The buffer should prevent the CD from jumping, especially if it is shaken. On the market, there are some devices that have such a strong buffer that they can be shaken without the CD jumping.

The additional equipment

Most Dj-CD players have additional features to enable Dj-typical effects, such as Flanger, Hall, or Delay. Other extensive features and features, such as sampler and Loopfunktionen, can be found on many players. This increases the creative possibilities for the Dj immensely. All these gimmicks are only found on Dj-CD players and are not possible with a vinyl turntable. The Dj-CD player offers the Dj many more possibilities. The pitch correction is only possible with the Dj-CD player. This allows tracks to be played slower or faster. However, the pitch does not change. Some devices now also support MP3 files. Mostly it’s a simple playback support.

The connections

As a rule, the Dj-CD players have analog and digital connections. The analogue connections are mostly RCA jacks. The digital connections are possible as coaxial S / PDIF sockets or as optical Tosling connections. This makes a lossless connection possible. To start the CD from a mixer fader, or seamlessly play back tracks from two paired players, there are some Dj-CD players with fader start and relay connectivity options.

Devices with the special extra

If the above functions are not enough, you will also find devices with additional functions. So there are Dj-CD players, which can play two tracks of a CD at the same time. They also have two separate outputs. This makes it possible to mix the two tracks via a mixer. There are also players that control the CD with the help of a vinyl record on one record playermake possible. These devices can be combined with a scratch controller and make this feature possible.
