It is generally true that the longer the blade of the machete is, the higher its impact. However, when buying it is important to remember that the longer the blade is, the more complicated it is to handle it. It depends on what you prefer: a shorter blade with less „power“ or a longer blade, whose handling is not that easy. In addition to the blade of the machete, however, one should pay attention to the handle of the practical tool. Here you have the choice between handles, which consist for example of wood, plastic or Micarta. The latter is preferred in many machete carriers, as it brings little weight on the scales and allows a firm grip. Wooden handles are also recommended, but may break after a while. On the other hand, plastic usually does not break, but often slips out of a wet hand. Wooden handles have a good grip. It is also advisable to look for a suitable, safe storage container when purchasing the machete. After all, this is a sharp tool that should not just be left open. The risk of injury is far too great.
