Trash can guide

Crumpled paper at the writing desk, the peanut shells in the living room and the sausage pack in the kitchen: everything has to disappear somewhere, where it is kept as odorless and invisibly safe as possible until it is finally disposed of. Of the Trashcan gratefully accepts everything that happens daily. But there are differences, which are also reflected in the designation.

Trash: Not just for the desk

Waste separation is a big issue in Germany compared to other countries. At the desk, of course, the waste paper binneeded, the papers, cardboard and cardboard as well as read newspapers and magazines, sticky notes and the shredded paper from the shredder for recycling feeds. The wastebasket is often made of wire braided, generally has no lid. This makes it easily accessible, does not have to be opened, and allows air to pass between the papers. Even coffee-stained, slightly damp paper does not mold or rot here, it can dry. Clever manufacturers divide the wastebasket, so that even at the desk between the different types of paper can be distinguished. The wastebasket is indispensable at home, at school and in the office.

Swing lid bin for bathrooms, Toiletand kitchen

The swing lid waste bin is built much more massive. A solid body leaves no air in the bucketin or out of the bucket. A freely swinging lid ensures that the bucket does not have to be opened, but simply picks up its contents. Nevertheless, the closure is at least odor-reducing. Of the Trashcan with swing lid is therefore suitable for bathrooms, toilets and kitchens. Wherever you need to go fast sometimes and dispose of low-odor waste.

Tretmülleimer provide for odor neutrality

Wherever the swing lid still leaves too much air in and out and thus provides for smells, the Tretmülleimer is the better choice. This Trashcan can be opened with a kick on a pedal, the gently swinging lid closes otherwise quite tight. The advantage of this bucket lies in the ease of use: wet or dirty hands in the kitchen are no problem, the lid is moved with the foot. In addition to the toilet, the bucket is perhaps not the best solution, because it requires some acrobatics to operate out of the typical (female) toilet keeping out. But in the bathroom, kitchen, hall and nursery, the bucket is in good hands and does an excellent job. Incidentally, the inner bucket can be taken out and carried over a handle, so that the Tretmülleimer is just as easy to empty as the trash. A special form of the Tretmülleimer for the kitchen is: Clever manufacturers have devised an interior division into two or more individual buckets, so as to divide the waste in packaging (yellow sack), organic waste (brown bin) and residual waste (black bin).

Can be installed in kitchen cabinets

In the 1970s and 1980s, it was at least in the kitchen modern, the closetunder the sink to open and an opening Trashcan to have before you. The was odor-proof lid with closed cabinet. These bin buckets are still available, and now in very different and well-designed variants. They are available for swinging doors on kitchen cabinets, but also for high drawers, for vertical folding and in the multiple version for waste separation. The Trashcan are distributed by the kitchen manufacturers together with the built-in elements or kitchen modules. It is practical that most manufacturers stick to the usual sizes, so that also in the Equipped kitchenguarantees an exactly in the trash suitable trash bagsis available.

Accessories: bucket and bag

Dustbins are often enough an odorous and not very appetizing matter. Provided with a garbage bag, they are much easier to keep clean. Garbage bags are available in sizes between 5 l and 180 l. Especially in the kitchen and bathroom are garbage bags with antibacterial coating an interesting thing. You can make the otherwise often necessary trash can deodorant superfluous and keep the content halfway germ-free. Lockable trash bags have a drawstring or long, knottable carrying straps. For bio-waste, there are special bags made of waste paper, which can be disposed of with the waste in the bio-waste bin. Bags made of biodegradable plastic (produced on the basis of corn fibers), however, are not popular with most waste disposal companies because the bags in the biogas plants and composting plants take too long to decompose. The inner pails of most rubbish bins have to be replaced from time to time. Therefore, it is worthwhile to buy models with common dimensions. So only the inner bucket has to be replaced and not the complete model.

And the material?

Plastics sometimes absorb odors and decompose when in contact with acids in detergents or fruit waste. The metal bucket is much more durable and hygienic, but also less frequent and more expensive. Trash cans made of wicker, textiles, wood or bamboo are only suitable for dry waste such as paper, otherwise they quickly become unsightly and above all unhygienic. Because these materials absorb moisture and hold them, they are also difficult to clean.
