Fabric pencils for exact work

Fabric pencils are also relatively easy to handle for the beginner, as they allow the color to be applied precisely to the textiles. The fabric crayons are particularly suitable for cotton fabrics or for blended fabrics with a low synthetic fiber content. Particularly useful are such pens, which are equipped with a double point, with which one can achieve a different line width. In this way one is more flexible while painting. Also, make sure that the pins are waterproof. Most of these textile colors can also be fixed to the fabric by ironing over the painting from the left. After that, the decorated items can usually be washed at 40 degrees.

Apply textile paint with freehand or stencils

Especially a lot of friends work with liquid textile dyes. There are many attractive colors to choose from, with which you can let your creativity run wild. If you are particularly skilled, you can apply the colors directly to the fabric with paintbrushes and paint your motifs as you would on a painting. If you are less artistically talented, you can also use stencils that are placed on the surface to be processed. The paint can then be applied either with a brush or with a sponge. As with the textile crayons, this color must also be fixed, although the procedure is similar. However, you should allow the painted textiles to dry for at least two hours before ironing.

Special techniques with textile colors

One of the oldest and most popular techniques in the field of fabric painting is painting on silk. This special silk stains are needed, which usually dry very quickly. The waxing or knotting technique prepares the textiles so that interesting patterns emerge when they are immersed in the dye bath. These colors are usually suitable for a wide selection of different fabrics. For techniques such as knots or bonding are particularly suitable for cotton or linen also Kaltbatikfarben.
