Champagne glasses guide

Champagne is a drink for the very special occasions in life and should be enjoyed accordingly. Of course, this does not only apply to the ceremonial opening of the bottle, but also to the right glasses.
Because only with the right champagne glasses the taste of pearly tingling beverage really comes into its own. What to look for when buying new champagne glasses necessarily and what advantages and disadvantages have different glasses, this comparison shows.

A question of the right shape – shell, tulip or flute

Basically, there is not „the“ right glass or „the“ right shape, but the shapes of champagne glasses are subject to certain trends.
Currently, most buyers tend to classic champagne flute. The fluteIt has been around since the 18th century and with its elegant, filigree and slim shape, it cuts a fine figure on every table. The champagne flute is very thin-walled and therefore tends to break easily.
In taste, the flute is characterized by a better distribution of air bubbles. With sizes of two to three millimeters and 30-40 beads per second, the champagne unfolds optimally in the flute and the tingling taste remains long. These glasses are ideal for toasting or celebrations of any kind.
At the other end of the scale is the champagne bowl, a long bowl in style. Often, champagne bowls are particularly high-quality by crystal elements in the hand, are very thick-walled and by the ornaments a real eye-catcher. However, the champagne in the bowl quickly becomes stale and only very small pearls develop anyway.
As beautiful as the bowls are, for champagne there are clearly better glasses. The only real advantage of the champagne cups: they can be easily stacked to pyramids.
The champagne tulip is modeled on wine or scotch glasses and although offers the long form of the flute, at the top, the glass is a bit narrower. This is less suitable for quickly filling several dozens of glasses, but they make the champagne bouquet stand out perfectly. Because the aroma of champagne does not go away so easily. Champagne lovers should wait just a few seconds before letting the scent of the glass into their noses – because the aroma is rather sour right after pouring; but evaporates after a few seconds.

The right champagne glass for the right occasion

Due to the many advantages of champagne tulips, this glass form is currently the most popular and can be found in many variations, which are sometimes closer to the flute, sometimes closer to the white wine glass.
In these glasses lovers can enjoy champagne optimally and have both the sparkling enjoyment of carbon dioxide and the perfect scent in the nose.
When buying sets buyers should only pay attention to the appropriate amount of glasses, because after all, everything should fit together above the table.
And champagne glasses are notoriously fragile. Even minor accidents can damage the thin walls, especially against pressure from the inside (as when drying with the dishcloth) are prone to champagne glasses.
Another important feature for the champagne glasses may be the Moussierpunkt. Who owns a dishwasher at home and cleans and dries the glasses in this, will eventually find out after washing the dishes, that the champagne has lost its special tingle.
Champagne glasses in these cases should not only be dishwasher safe, but also have a mashed mousse point. This is laser or diamond milled during production and ensures fresh taste even after machine washing.

There are always reasons to celebrate

Whether it’s a birthday, a wedding or just a relaxed start to your holiday: Champagne is the perfect drink to celebrate life.
And with the right champagne glasses life tastes a bit sweeter.
