Vitamin B Guide

Vitamin B: essential B-group

Under vitamin B is not understood as a single, but equal to a whole group of vitamins. Like many more vitamins, the B vitamins are also urgently needed by humans.

The eight different vitamins of the B group

The vitamins belonging to the B group are water-soluble and provide mainly for the metabolism in the body of humans. Since the metabolism affects almost all parts of the body, the spectrum of action of the B vitamins is correspondingly large. The group of B vitamins includes:

– Vitamin B1 (thiamine)
– Vitamin B2 (riboflavin)
– Vitamin B3 (nicotinic acid, niacin)
– Vitamin B5 (pantothenic acid)
– Vitamin B6 (pyridoxine)
– Vitamin B7 (biotin)
– Vitamin B9 (folic acid)
– Vitamin B12(Cobalamin)

All eight B vitamins are vital to the human body. Without them, no metabolic activities are possible and even the formation of blood could not, as is actually necessary, be driven by the body. The various modes of action of B vitamins thus relate primarily to the formation of the blood and also to the supply of different body cells, such as the blood or nerve cells. But also for the psyche B vitamins play a very important role. B12, for example, is used to boost the production of methionine, which primarily affects calm, joy and happiness. In contrast, the vitamins B2 and B7 contribute to the health of the mucous membrane and the skin. Other B-group vitamins are responsible for healthy organ growth.

Additional information

The B-group vitamins are found not only in plant foods but also in animal foods. Because of this, a healthy, well-balanced diet will normally allow you to meet your daily intake of these vitamins. However, if there is a deficiency of B vitamins, the consequences usually only come to light after several weeks. The symptoms here can be very different. These include disorders of the metabolism as well as inflammation of the mucous membrane or heart failure.

Increased demand for vitamin B

However, there are also people who have an increased need for vitamin B to have. This includes smokers as well as pregnant and nursing women. But even people who are on a diet need to be careful enough vitamin B to take. The same applies to people who have to cope with a lot of stress, heavy workers, athletes and alcoholics. But even women who take the pill may be under a lack of vitamin B Suffer. If the suspicion of a lack of vitamin B, then it is advisable to report immediately to a doctor. He will then take all the necessary measures to find out, on the one hand, whether there is actually a deficiency of vitamin B and which of the eight vitamins is involved here, and on the other hand, to initiate any therapeutic measures.
