Vole-fighting advisor

Many ambitious gardeners know the destroyed plants near the flower beds and the raised mounds. This is exactly what voleurs leave behind when they seek food and dig their passageways. Even if you have not even experienced the scenario, then there are often friends or acquaintances who have been hit by the vole. The question is, of course, always what can be done if voles are in their own garden. However, before it comes to fighting it is important that the work and appearance are known. For their species, the voles are relatively large and some animals are here up to twenty inches long. The color of the coat ranges from dark brown to light ocher tone. However, the lower abdomen is lighter in comparison to the rest of the body. The vole is not a nocturnal animal, but they are permanently active. The several-hour sleep phases and active phases alternate here. The work of destruction is also promoted in the cold season, because there is no hibernation held. All sorts of onions, tubers and roots are here the main food source as well as the foliage of vegetable and plant species. Each day, the voles need to pick up about 100 grams of plant parts. In case of an infestation of the animals, of course, there can be devastating effects. The fight should therefore not wait too long. In comparison to the mole, infestation with vole mice can often not be detected directly. Although often a small pile of earth is thrown up, but this is rarer and smaller. Also, the outlet in the passage system and the shape of the aisles can not be recognized so well. The grave technique dug oval tunnels here and they are arched upwards. Always at an angle to the surface, the output is created. Quite the passage system can be a few kilometers long and usually they are only a few inches below the surface. Not infrequently, the corridors also go down to a depth of 30 centimeters.

How are the voles fought?

If you move into a new house, you can inquire whether there are voles in the neighborhood. It may be recommended that a wire mesh barrier be buried against the mice when remodeling from the garden. Keeping away the voles is thus effectively possible. Wire mesh is buried aboveground and underground along the fence. The above-ground fence is also important, because the new areas are mostly immigrated. Only then can the animals be kept permanently. If ornamental shrubs and fruit trees are planted, then one can wire basketbe attached. Again, however, an underground barrier works. If voles are already present, there are also many different vole traps. Of course, the voles will not be shot in the bullfight, but the lungs of the animals will be destroyed and there will be overpressure in the duct system if the trap is triggered when touched. However, this trap is not completely safe and the initial cost is relatively high. For the voles, however, it is a reliable and effective helper. In addition, there is also the tube trap and should the voles not be killed, then this trap can be chosen. In the duct system, the vole traps are used and there are small doors, which open only to the inside. This trap must be checked daily for catch and there is a risk of injury when removing it. There is a simple handling and the structure is simple. In addition, the purchase is low here. Furthermore, there are also the box trap, with which the voles can be fought. However, two traps are best used here, as there is only one entrance on one side and it is often not known in which direction the gear is going. The trap is not placed near the exits because these are mostly side corridors that are not often used. The installation is a bit more involved here, several traps are needed and once a day the trap can be checked. The construction of the traps is robust and they are also relatively cheap. In the animals also the gassing works and this is a form of control, which is left to the professionals. Only with a special device, this fight can be carried out. But this method is effective and fast.
