Planting bag guide

Plants are an important part of our lives. Not only do they deliver the oxygen we need to live, they also significantly regulate the global climate, but also have many beneficial effects on our well-being as they thrive in our immediate environment. They bring life to our living spaces and to balconies and terraces. The green foliage has a soothing effect, the colorful flowers are decorative and the fruits of crops enrich our diet. But in order for the plants to thrive, they themselves need appropriate living conditions. These include in particular the right planters. These are classically different sized flowerpots, plantersand tubs. But the market offers innovative and much more appealing ways to maintain plants visually appealing. One of these possibilities is to plant plants in so-called plant bags. These are sturdy but flexible sacks of geotextiles. These are special materials that provide the plants with the conditions they need for healthy growth.

Planting bags: benefits for the plants

Plant roots develop best when they get a balanced ratio of water, fresh air, nutrients and space to grow. However, this combination is rare or even absent in classical planters. The plants are often poured too irregularly, which causes each time the water earthcondensed further and finally creates a hostile, massive block of mud. In such conditions, take care of the roots, eventually dying off and the entire plant with them. In nature, this is regulated by soil organisms such as earthworms and woodlice, as well as unlimited space. This is rarely the case on your own balcony. Plant bags, in contrast to water and air impermeable pots, made of tissue, which leaves both almost unhindered. While too much water in a large bucket needs to seep all the way down to drain much too slowly through a few holes, if any, this surplus can be one planting bag Leave the entire surface and at the same time penetrate fresh air. This ensures a looser soil structure for a longer time. In addition, the bags are lined with a felt layer, which helps to guide water more evenly to the earth. Another advantage is the high flexibility of the material. While the root system must adapt to the rigid walls of a planter, it can planting bag stretch a bit and create space in the appropriate place. At the same time it is possible to knead the bag to some extent. As a result, the earth is broken up a bit and ventilated better.

Planting bags: benefits for the gardener

Seed bags look simply unusual at first and offer an appealing visual change from ordinary planters. The smallest versions have a capacity of 3 liters, the largest, however, replace a 100-liter bucket. They can be planted much more creative than ordinary pots. While in these only one or more plants can be placed in the top, it is possible in one planting bag to cut a variety of holes. If plants are placed in these holes, the entire bag can be planted and disappear under the plants. Perhaps the biggest advantage, however, is the flexibility. Most pots are round, and even if square pails are used, they rarely fit seamlessly together. This creates gaps that take away space that could be used for other plants. Plant sacks, on the other hand, can be placed practically seamlessly on each other and then form a kind of honeycomb structure. This not only saves space, but can also be used for easier irrigation, as a group of planting can be considered as a single pot and watered throughout.
