Artful mosaic tables are available in all color variants. They are available in different sizes. As garden tables, bistro tables, bedside tables or as a living room table they look good and show style. But there are differences in quality and, accordingly, in price. Also interesting: mosaic tables can be made by yourself and already purchased, cheap mosaic tables can be designed with a bit of work more durable and easier to clean. Before that, a little bit of background knowledge about mosaic.

Mosaic: ancient art form
Already Romans and Greeks knew the art with the small parts. The edge length of traditional mosaic pieces was one to two centimeters. The material used was either colored natural stones or colored glass as well as varnished or colored clay. The puzzle pieces were placed in still wet mortar and together resulted in a work of art. The patterns are reminiscent of Mandelas, but also faces and historical events were processed as a mosaic.

Meanwhile, there are small mosaic tables already under 20 euros. However, the frame is not made of high quality wrought iron, but of other metal or even plastic. In cheap mass products, the mosaic stones are not assembled in fresh mortar mass to small works of art; the whole process is industrialized and the result is no longer unique.
Even handmade mosaic tables are usually worked in such a way that the mosaic tiles are glued to grid or mirrored on a foil or paper.
Very seldom are real artists who produce unique pieces in the old way. These are however a special eye-catcher. To many tables there are matching mosaic chairs. Often one will seatingsold as a set.

Cleaning and durability?
Between the small mosaics are joints, as they are known from tiles. Dust gets caught here; Even leftovers do not stop. A simple wipe is unfortunately not enough to one mosaic table really clean. With a toothbrushcan remove dust and Co relatively residue.
One way to protect the mosaic from scratches and make it easier to care for is the pouring into epoxy resin. It does not take long and is worth it.

Mosaic table DIY?
For anyone who does not want to collect the small stones themselves and puzzle together, the following simple DIY variant is suitable: In the hardware store in the tile department, there are mosaic tile grid. These grids are so flexible that you can easily cut out edgy shapes and process them on a tabletop as if you were bathing.

A mosaic may also consist of collected shells or stones. You may want to cast a concrete slab and decorate it with it. Really a nice place for flotsam from the holiday.

Somewhere around the corner, one can imagine mosaic table also from a simple table design. For example, with napkin technology. Simply cut out mosaic particles of served and proceed as indicated on the napkin glue. This method leads to an interesting look, but unfortunately the feel remains on the track.

Old CDs can be broken and used as mosaic pieces, so combine old technology with new materials.
