Grid light guide

Grid light – the perfect solution for offices and commercial spaces

Anyone responsible for the lighting of offices, workrooms or shops must take many factors into account when selecting the light sources. The illuminance must be sufficient for the intended purpose. The harder the task is for the human eye, the higher the illuminance must be. The light color must be chosen so that it is perceived by the users of the room on the one hand as pleasant and on the other hand, the concentration on the activity promotes.

When it comes to the lighting of an office, the requirements are particularly high, since most office work today is done on VDU workstations. In order to avoid straining the eyes when working in such workplaces, the light distribution in the room must be as even as possible and no reflections of the light on the room must be made monitorfall. The easiest way to reconcile all these requirements is when the room is equipped with grid lights.
The cross-shaped grid reliably prevents the light from fading. In addition, the numerous small grid areas ensure very even light distribution in the room.

Mounted or built-in lamp?

This question should ask the lighting designer already in the construction phase. Both solutions have their advantages. Should the office or the workroom be suspended blanketbe equipped, offers an installation solution. Particularly attractive are the small square louvre luminaires, which are evenly distributed in the ceiling. In this way, a lighting can be realized that meets high aesthetic requirements. That is why recessed louvre luminaires are also found in public facilities or in large sales areas.

Should a room be retrofitted with a Louvrelight equipped, it is usually easier to implement a cultivation solution. If it allows the ceiling construction, the Louvrelight to be mounted flat. In very high rooms can one pendant lightbe more advantageous with grid. The distance between the ceiling and the light source can then be adapted to the spatial conditions.

Grid lamp for LED tubes – energy efficient and pleasant

Just a few years ago, almost all offices were home to the Louvrelight with fluorescent tubes as standard. Today, in this area, the fluorescent tubes are increasingly displaced by LED tubes. Although the purchase price for LED tubes is still significantly higher than the price of the fluorescent tubes, the investment pays for itself after only a short period of operation. An LED tube requires significantly less electrical energy than the classic fluorescent tube to provide the same level of illumination. In addition, the life of the LED tube is much higher. If you opt for LED tubes, you can choose between different light colors, just like the fluorescent tubes.

The light colors are usually given in Kelvin (K). An LED tube with a value up to 3,300 K produces warm white light. This corresponds approximately to the light color, which we are used to from the classic light bulb. This light is perceived by humans as comfortable and relaxing, therefore, such lighting should be reserved for the break room. Neutral white light is optimal for the office. Therefore, the grid lights in offices are usually equipped with LED or fluorescent tubes with a value between 3,300 K and 5,300 K. Bulbs with a value greater than 5,300 K provide a light that is referred to as daylight white or cold white. These fluorescent or LED tubes are used wherever fine lines or color differences have to be detected, as is the case in printing shops or architectural offices.

These Louvrelight is recommended
ELG Leuchten GmbH offers a Louvrelight which is optimally suited for rooms with VDU workstations. The double parabolic grid is made of aluminum and is glare-free, to prevent disturbing reflections. The lamp with two LED tubes (4,500 K) is suitable for surface mounting, but can also be used as a pendant lamp.
