In the first step, an 8% wine is produced, which is then processed in a pot still to high-proof cognac. The special feature is the double distillation, in which the alcohol content increases up to 60%. Ultimately, it matures in large wooden barrels over many years, develops its fine taste of smoke or vanilla. The best varieties are stored here, while the cognac loses about 1.5% of its original 60% alcohol content every year. Only at the end does it have its full-bodied taste, characterized by soft nuances – just a good cognac.
