The sun shines in vain, is the usual slogan of manufacturers in the field of solar systems. That there is solar energy not only on a large scale, but also in small for smartphones, tablets and other small appliances, is still a fairly new development. Other solutions are small, single solar panels that deliver higher performance, come individually, and promise extremely short charging times. The small „leaves“ can be attached by means of carabiners to backpacks and bags and load on the way power banks, which in turn later deliver the energy to the terminals. Adapter sets supplied by the manufacturer make both versions compatible with all major devices that can be charged via USB cables of some sort. The performance of the different devices are quite different: They are between 8 and 21 watts. Small, rather weak devices are therefore just suitable for flashlights, while larger, more expensive solar chargers can also be used for laptops.

Stationary solar chargers

They actually look small and should be similar to that Smartphonecan be taken anywhere: Small, compact solar chargers, which actually resemble in size and weight a larger smartphone. The problem with these devices is obvious: they have a small solar area, so they can not absorb a lot of sunlight at once. Accordingly, the performance is low, and that in a device that looks like a brick compared to the sheets of outdoor specialists. Limited lifetime, high acquisition costs, nevertheless rewarding

Solar chargers cost between 20 and 500 euros, conventional chargers 5 to 35 euros. Solar chargers work efficiently for about three to five years, but there is no reliable data for conventional chargers.
