Canon PowerShot Digital Camera Guide

In 1996, the Japanese company Canon introduced the first digital compact camera in the PowerShot series. The first compact PowerShot model quickly became a global hit that sold extremely well. Over time, more and more models of the PowerShot series were added, so that now five different series of PowerShot digital cameras are available, covering a wide range of different scenarios and are suitable for ambitious amateur photographers, as well as for professional photography.

PowerShot for ambitious beginners

The first models of the PowerShot A-series had features that were quite impressive and with which the former SLR cameras were identical. Over time, Canon tried to make the A-series cameras for beginners easier to use. However, it has not been dispensed with the numerous adjustment options for the time being. Until the beginning of 2009, all cameras of the A-series were equipped with program, time and shutter automatic, but could also be controlled manually. As storage medium CompactFlash cards were used with the first devices, later on more modern memory formats such as MMC and SD were changed. In order to meet the demands of ambitious users, the optical viewfinder was not dispensed with until the end of 2009. A special feature of the A-series, which was considered by many to be extremely advantageous, is the fact that the power supply of these devices was realized with AA batteries or AA batteries. Due to the widespread use of these chargers and replacement batteries were much cheaper than proprietary devices from other manufacturers. The newer and at the same time the last cameras of the PowerShot A-series were produced until 2011. These last models did not use an optical viewfinder, which was favored by the use of high quality IPS displays, which provide a clear picture even in direct sunlight.

PowerShot digital cameras for demanding users

The S-series PowerShot digital cameras are designed to meet the needs and needs of demanding photographers. Although the first two models of the S-series (S10 and S20) were designed as low-cost devices for beginners, in 2001 a new target group was addressed with the S30 model. The S-Series models were from the beginning related to the G-series, but offered the same features and features in a much more compact and lighter housing. With the S100 introduced in the fall of 2011, a model with CMOS sensor and a pin sharp resolution of 12 megapixels was presented for the first time. In the S100 model, the plastic housing has been replaced by a noble and extremely resistant metal housing. In addition, the zoom range of the lens has been increased and the S100 PowerShot was the first camera model from Canon with a GPS receiver. Current models of the PowerShot S series are equipped with many useful features and features. Launched in February 2014, the S200 features Wi-Fi, a powerful image processor, and support for all current image formats.
