Baby and child carrier counselor

Children are already used to being carried during pregnancy, so it is not surprising that many mothers and fathers want to take advantage of wearing after birth. But which baby carriers are best for parents and children?

In the following I would like to describe the possibilities of a stretcher, what to look for and to introduce some ergonomically suitable models.

What a baby carrier can do

Unlike one sling, a stretcher is relatively straightforward and quick. A baby can be taken so comfortably everywhere, feels the heartbeat and the proximity of the parents, is promoted sensorimotor and has much less likely to occur with a positional flattening of the back of the head.

What to look for

For a healthy hip development, it is important that the baby or toddler be able to assume a natural squat-spreading position (also called the M position). Not every carrying system supports this. For this reason, it is essential to abstain from carrying the child facing the front. Only when the child is a little older, the stimuli of the environment can not overstrain it and it is able to hold its head itself, one can change to a forward position, by the child on the back or on the side of the Hip carries.

To ensure a comfortable fit, the shoulder straps and hipbelt should be well padded and wide. Ideally, the stretcher distributes the weight of the child on the back and hips.

Basically, a child can be born from birth up to a weight of about 20 kg.

Examples of suitable carriers:

ERGObaby

The Ergobabykomforttrage is designed for a weight up to 20.4 kg.
It ensures a correct orthopedic fit, has very firm seams and consists of ecologically harmless certified cotton.
Due to the thick fabric, you can unfortunately get a bit of a sweat in summer.
Since the belt runs very high above just under the arms, this is sometimes uncomfortable and even the closure on the back makes it easier to put it alone.

Manduca

Also this stretcher is suitable for a weight up to 20 kg. It consists of hemp and organic cotton. Due to the slightly firmer fabric, it can also be warm for the wearer. Nevertheless, it is very comfortable and optimally adapts to the growth of the child through a zipper. A repurchase is definitely not necessary here.
Worn on the back, the shoulders are very demanding, but if you carry the child in front, the weight is optimally distributed by the bands that cross at the back.

Hoppediz Bondolino

Also up to 20 kg can be worn well with the Bondolino made of cross-elastic woven cotton child. Particularly beautiful here is the lack of buckles or a belt, as the stretcher is tied below the child, similar to a sling.
The soft elastic fabric also ensures a close wearing comfort.

Miss Hübsch

If you want to have even more mix of stretcher and cloth, you can take a look at Miss Hübsch – Mei Tai.

The wide waist belt of this stretcher is well padded and the width of the back part can be adjusted to the size of the child. However, sometimes it can be a bit difficult to bring the child into the perfect posture, especially when it gets bigger and more flexible.

The main part of the stretcher consists of a baby carrier fabric, which makes carrying for parent and child very pleasant. A disadvantage, however, is that this carrying system does not grow indefinitely and one must resort to other sizes if necessary.

Generally one should consider a stretcher, regardless of the descriptions, in advance and try on. Here you can quickly find out if mother or father and child feel comfortable and the stretcher allows a safe and healthy carrying.
In many places, there are support consultants who help you with the selection and explain the correct creation of different models.
