Educator, actress, writer, and director, Saskia Van Oot's goal in teaching is to create a comfortable environment to facilitate communication, self-confidence, creativity, problem solving, and other important life skills through the art of drama. Using her natural talents of honesty, humor, and high energy, she shares her motivations, goals, and tech-niques with students and teachers.

Saskia's residency consists of an introductory show, vocal and physical warm-ups, drama games, exercises, and scene work. During the workshop, students use powers of observation, imagination, concen-tration, and creative problem solving.

Suitable for grades K-12 (as well as adults and special populations)

Education/Experience: BA in Theatre, University of Delaware;
8 years as performer and stage manager at Busch Gardens; Delaware Artist in Residence since 1982; 4 years as video director/producer/actor; has taught and performed in children's theatres; owner of entertainment business.

Special Training: Very Special Arts-Delaware training to work with special populations; some experience with sign language.

Education Resource Artist
Saskia Van Oot works with teachers and students to use drama to relate to other curricular areas. Acting out stories from English literature or social studies can give students first-hand experience with character development, vocal and physical presentations, and scene work.
