3 South Dillwyn Road Successful in a variety of media (silk-screening, sculpture, drawing, and painting), Deborah Stelling is a visual artist who is fond of utilizing a palette of bright colors. Her goal in working with students is to have them become acquainted with a variety of techniques in art that they would probably not be exposed to in a traditional school program. Students have an opportunity to work with several disciplines-silk-screening, three-dimensional sculpture, drawing, painting, and collage-that may be incorporated into a mixed-media painting or permanent mural for the school. Many of the artist's own inter-national traveling has influenced her art works and she often integrates historical and contemporary art forms into her work with students. Suitable for grades 3-9 Education/Experience: BFA and MFA, University of Delaware; Columbus College of Art and Design, Illustration Foundation; fellowships from State of Brandenburg, Germany; the MacDowell Colony; Virginia Center for the Creative Arts; artist residencies.
