1440 E. Baltimore Street, #3B Maria-Theresa Fernandes views her art as a means of learning about other cultures and countries of the world. She uses her art to reflect the traditions, dances, textiles, and the native arts of each culture studied. Her artistic interests lie in collage and in using drawing, mono- and lino-printing, and stitchery to enhance her rich two- and three-dimensional designs. Her work has been exhibited in galleries in Europe, Japan, Canada, and the United States. During a residency, younger students may work on a fiber mural or hanging using collage and stitchery to express their personal imagery. Older students are introduced to mono- and lino-printing techniques. Adding collage and stitchery further develops their work.
