Champions of Change: The Impact of the
Arts on Learning
Published by the President's Committee on the Arts and the Humanities, along with the Arts Education Partnership.
This collection of seven independent research projects highlights important findings in the field of arts
education, in both school settings and out-of-school settings. These reports provide keys to better understand
"the impact of the arts on learning, not just on formal education."
Delaware Visual and
Performing Arts Standards
Developed by the Visual and Performing Arts Curriculum Framework Commission and published by the Delaware
Department of Education. These standards, approved by the State Board of Education in November 1997, serve as the
foundation for all arts education statewide. They identify what students should know and be able to do in the
arts, and they serve as the basis upon which to assess student learning in the arts.
Eloquent Evidence: Arts at the Core
of Learning
Published by the President's Committee on the Arts and the Humanities and the National Association of State Arts
Agencies, this brochure provides valuable highlights on the impact of the arts in children's lives. It can serve
as a powerful arts advocacy tool.
For the Greater Good: Frameworks
for Advancing State Arts Education Partnerships
A new NASAA report documents what was learned during a November 2001 workshop that brought together leaders from
the state-level arts education support networks in Florida, Hawaii, Mississippi, Ohio and South Carolina. These
leaders, representing state arts agencies, state alliances for arts education and state departments of education,
assessed, shared and analyzed their successes and challenges so that other states interested in advancing their
own arts education relationships could have a road map. 2003.
Gaining the Arts Advantage: Lessons from School Districts
that Value Arts Education
Published by the President's Committee on the Arts and the Humanities, along with the Arts Education Partnership.
This report features 91 school districts from around the nation that exemplify a strong district-wide commitment
to arts education. The study includes the principal factors that contribute to a meaningful arts education
program.
Learning Partnerships: Improving learning in the
schools with arts partners in the community
Published by the Arts Education Partnership and the Council for Chief State School Officers. This booklet offers
"guidance to community leaders from the arts, education, business, civic and government sectors who seek to
combine their talents and resources in partnership to address the arts and arts education needs of the young
people of their community."

Arts / Public School Partnerships
In 2005, in partnership with the MetLife
Foundation, the National Guild initiated the
MetLife Foundation Partners in Arts Education
Program. The Program distributes a best-practices
guide, provides grants and produces training
institutes.
The NAEP 1997 Arts Report Card
Published by the National Center for Education Statistics. The National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP)
Report identifies what 8th graders nationwide know (and do not know) in the arts, in relation to the national arts
standards.
National Standards for Arts Education
Developed by the National Standards for Arts Education, published by the Music Educators National Conference.
This book presents the national standards for arts education in Dance, Music, Theatre, and the Visual Arts.
Young Children and the Arts:
Making Creative Connections
A publication written by the Task Force on Children's Learning and the Arts: Birth to Age Eight and published by
the Arts Education Partnership. The goal of this booklet is to "build a common language between the early
childhood and arts education sectors in order to share current knowledge about the needs of children, the nature
of their development, and the role of the arts in their lives."
