A Synthesizer is a great instrument to make music, as long as you’ve bought the right one.

For beginners: Sound is the decisive criterion, not all the additional technical functions. These are more suitable for advanced players or professionals.

Best SynthesizerWhat is special about a Synthesizer?

Anybody can probably imagine what a Synthesizer is. But only very few know the exact differences to a classical piano and its characteristic features. This is why our keyboard comparison gives you a brief overview of the most important features of this instrument. Keyboards, such as the models from the Best Synthesizer 2018 list, are at first quite simply expressed portable electronic devices. The term keyboard originates from English. There it is called “electronic keyboard”. The fact that this is an instrument from the category of keyboard instruments can be seen at first glance. It is a mixture of an electronic piano and an organ.

In contrast to the classical piano, the sounds are stored electronically and then played back at the touch of a button. The tones are thus created in an electro-mechanical way. But they can also be generated purely electronically or, today, digitally. Most of the devices on the market today have a 61-button keyboard and possibly a built-in metronome. The keyboard is derived from the classical organ. A very special characteristic feature is the automatic accompaniment, which can be played with the left hand. This is a special feature of arranger keyboards, which are most often used in stage performances by solo entertainers. As the name or job title already says, there is no band here, so that an automatic accompaniment is necessary.

Maybe the word “electric piano” means something to you. If so, ask yourself what the exact difference to a keyboard is. We’ll tell you: The biggest difference to electric pianos is probably the less extensive and lighter keyboard. With keyboards the keyboard is smaller. The integrated automatic accompaniment system and the organ keyboard also offer a significantly different playing technique from that of pianos.

Today, the keyboard is mostly used to simulate traditional songs or historical instruments or to combine several sounds from different instruments. What’s more, and this is the most important thing, you can also make really good music with it.
