NAMH logoThe arts and humanities play an important role in our lives—they provide enrichment and strive to provide enlightening and transformational experiences to individuals across the state. Delaware is fortunate to have an abundance of opportunities in which to engage one's passion for theater, dance, literature, arts, and music.

October is National Arts and Humanities Month (NAHM) — an annual coast-to-coast collective celebration of culture in America. It's a chance for communities across the United States join together to recognize the cultural gems surrounding them.

The arts allow us to explore ideas, express emotions, and better appreciate cultures from around the world. NAHM is an opportunity to recognize and celebrate the positive impact the arts bring to our schools and communities. Delaware has much to offer.

Five ideas to celebrate the arts and humanities in Delaware:

  1. Attend an art or cultural event in your community. (Visit

  2. Write a letter to your elected officials about the importance of the arts. (Find your officials)

  3. Become a member of or volunteer for your favorite arts organization.

  4. Join the Delaware Arts Alliance and become an advocate for the arts.

  5. Check out the Delaware Humanities Forum.
